These are Haitian people. They live in very small space, four people in one room. The man does not have a stable job, and he makes very little money. His salary barely covers rent and food for his family. He is trying as much as he can to secure a better future for his children who live with him. He is trying to save money to bring his wife, who is in Haiti, to Chile, so that the family can be reunited and the children can be with their mother, given that they are currently taken care of by an aunt. With this blurred image, I want to show this man’s life situation right now – he sees an uncertain future. He doesn’t make enough money with just one job to satisfy the basic needs of his family, and he’s looking at the possibility of getting another job. He told me that he receives less than minimum wage. There aren’t a lot of options, because employers take advantage of migrants’ vulnerable situation and need for work and pay them low salaries. Because some accept such low salaries, all the employers want to pay everyone the same low wage. In his country, the economy is bad, and for this reason, he came here. He had the expectation and hope of a better life in Chile, but today he and his family still struggle. Today, he doesn’t even have a comfortable place to life, being that his home is overcrowded. Despite all of the difficulties, he doesn’t have intentions to go back to Haiti. He doesn’t want to give up.
