Yaneth L. Rodriguez, MPH, earned a Master of Public Health degree in the global health and leadership track and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention from the University Southern California. She helps to manage the Center for Health Equity in the Americas.
Yaneth is a regional coordinator with the Latino Coordinating Center for a Tobacco-Free California (LCC) and a project manager for several research studies at USC. She is currently helping to manage a Colorectal Cancer randomized control research trial for the Community Genetic Navigation Empowerment Specialists Program (CoGENES).
She also has managed several tobacco-related research projects such as “Maximizing Retailers Responsiveness to FDA Regulatory Authority in Minority Communities” at the Tobacco Center of Regulatory Sciences at USC, a large scale retail environment study among five vulnerable populations (African American, Hispanic/Latino, Korean, American Indian, and Non-Hispanic White) in California. She also has managed several studies that examined secondhand smoke exposure in multi-unit housing, tenant and landlord’s knowledge, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, compliance, and support for smoke free policies in Los Angeles County.
Rodriguez has more than 15 years of experience in tobacco control and research. She has worked on several tobacco-related research projects since 2003, including as a health educator on a tobacco prevention and cessation program; as a research assistant for a study that addressed the effects of acculturation on tobacco and other drug use; as a research assistant for a project that studied cultural risk and protective factors that affect commercial tobacco use among American Indian adolescents, and as a data manager for a large scale tobacco retail environment study. She was awarded the Tobacco Related Disease Research Program Cornelius Hopper Diversity Award in 2004 to study the receptivity of a culturally tailored tobacco prevention program for Chicano/Latino youth, incorporating culturally relevant activities in existing prevention and cessation programs.
Rodriguez has worked on numerous projects as an evaluator, including Es Tiempo, a project to get Latina women at high risk for cervical cancer into early screening and to encourage vaccination of their sons and daughters against the HPV virus in highly impacted and vulnerable communities. She was also the Project Manager of the Tobacco Education and Materials Lab (TEAM Lab), where she worked on materials development, evaluation and program management (http://teamlab.usc.edu).
She is currently a regional coordinator and the evaluator for the Latino Coordinating Center for a Tobacco-Free California (LCC) funded by the California Tobacco Control Program.
