On January 28, 2016 the USC Department of Preventive Medicine invited Dr. Gerardo Moreno, Assistant Professor in Family Medicine from the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine to come speak on “Understanding the Social Determinants of Health and Latino Health Disparities in Diabetes Care.” Dr. Moreno’s research focuses on Latino health disparities, and on the social determinants of health affecting health care access and personal health among minority populations. Two of his main goals are: 1) To improve the health and health care of Latinos and other vulnerable populations, and 2) Enhance access to care by changing the way we think about the physician work force.
