The Institute for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Research (IPR), under the direction of Dr. Mary Ann Pentz, is a research group housed within the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences. IPR’s mission is to promote interdisciplinary research and education as a way to enhance the health and well being of individuals and communities locally and across the globe.
IPR research focuses on health promotion and disease prevention through transdisciplinary collaboration. IPR faculty works closely with 11 other schools at USC, research institutes, and public health agencies on 5 continents. IPR researchers represent a wide variety of disciplines including the behavioral sciences, environmental science, genetics, pharmacology, communication, and policy science.
