Congratulations to Dr. Lourdes Baezconde-Garbanati, Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement at USC Norris and Associate Dean for Community Initiatives at Keck School of Medicine of USC, who was honored as a Distinguished Professor of Population and Public Health Sciences by the University of Southern California’s President, Carol Folt. Dr. Baezconde was honored at the 42nd Annual Academic Honors Convocation held on April 11, 2023 at Town and Gown.
The title of Distinguished Professor is awarded on a very selective basis to those professors who have brought special renown to the university through their accomplishments. This distinction recognizes her outstanding work in Hispanic/Latino health and socio-determinants of community health disparities. Her leadership and mentorship contributions have profoundly impacted the health sciences student population at USC, both undergraduate and graduate. Furthermore, her outreach work and directorship of multiple centers have created new engagement with preventative medicine in Los Angeles and beyond. We thank, Dr. Baezconde-Garbanati for her guidance and the personal example she has set.
