On Friday, August 18, 2017, at the historic LA City Hall in Downtown, Dr. Jonathan Samet and Dr. Lourdes Baezconde-Garbanati were recognized by the City of Los Angeles General Attorney, Mike Feuer, and councilmember Mitch O’Farrell along with other City Council Members. They were recognized for their efforts against big tobacco industry through research and community interventions. After a public recognition, a reception took place at the Tom Bradley Tower located at the upper deck of the building with astonishing views of the City of Los Angeles. With opening remarks by LA City Attorney, Mike Feuer, Dr. Baezconde-Garbanati and Dr. Samet celebrated this great recognition with colleagues, family and friends. As we say farewell to Dr. Samet, who is starting a new chapter in Colorado, Dr. Baezconde-Garbanati is staying at USC to keep improving our communities.
